Please join us for a visit and dinner with New York artist Bill Claps as he presents his latest work in "Gilded Reflections" and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Harvard French Scholarship Fund.

Sponsored by Hans Mautner, HBS ‘63 and Bertrand Scholler, of Gallery 55 Bellechasse. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Harvard French Scholarship Fund

Bill Claps is a New York based visual artist, filmmaker and writer whose work comments on the imagery, motifs and language used by artists and art writers. Bill earned a Bachelor of Arts at Harvard University, and studied painting and art history at Harvard as well as at the Art Students League in New York and in Florence, Italy. His paintings and drawings have been presented in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and institutions in the United States and Europe are represented in private collections and foundations around the world. He writes for Artspace.com and Exibart Magazine. www.billclaps.net

Gallery 55 Bellechasse was founded in 2013 by Bertrand SCHOLLER in partnership with Hans MAUTNER, HBS '63, to participate in the emergence of international artists. Together, Bertrand and Hans, who share a passion for contemporary art, have over 60 years of experience in investment banking, strategic consulting and real estate development. Last year they opened a second gallery location in Miami. The Gallery is home to Club 55Bellechasse, a club of art lovers from France and America, who meet for monthly dinner and brunches around art.

‘Gilded Reflections’ encompasses themes from BIll’s latest series which were all created using a unique golf foil technique that he developed. While ‘Artspeak’ comments on the often incomprehensible language used by the art world that can alienate the art-viewing public, ‘It’s all Derivative’ speaks to how everything and everyone is connected on one level or another. ‘Natural Abstractions’ is inspired by Chinese landscape paintings.

The Harvard French Scholarship Fund provides financial aid to French students enrolled at Harvard University through grants and loans. The program is entirely funded by alumni donors and is sponsored by the Harvard Club of France, the Harvard Law School Association and the Harvard Business School Club of France.
