The Event
Screening and Discussion with sociologist/author/filmmaker Julien Billion
in partnership with Emmaüs France
Followed by a cocktail provided by the Social Business / Entreprise d'Insertion La Table de Cana
« Comme tout le monde » (in French with English subtitles) recounts the lives of 3 young homeless individuals in Paris during 4 years.
In France, 20000 young people are homeless, this represents over a third of the total homeless population. However, this youth remains invisible, far from the media, political and intellectual spheres.
As their stories and testimonies go unheard, Julien Billion's film is an attempt to shed some light on this invisible homeless population and give them a voice.
The film protagonists and some of their entourage should be present.
The proceeds will be redistributed to Emmaüs and to the non profit association "Comme tout le monde"
Sociologist Julien Billion was a Fullbright research fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and at Columbia University. He now teaches at various business and human ressources schools in France and is an associate researcher at Paris-Dauphine University.
Julien is the author of the book « Je ne dors pas à la maison », which recounts the lives of homeless youngsters in Paris and in New York. This led to the making of his documentary «Comme tout le monde » on Parisian homeless youth.
